Are we really ready?

Now this is a question fraught with so much weight! The trip planning phase which spanned over the last couple of months and included research, meetings, pointed (mostly) WhatsApp communications and meticulous organizing with shared sheets and the whole nine yards seems to have fallen short. The reason being, here we are at the gate ready to board our flights but none of us can agree on a common pronunciation of places like “Jokulsarlon” or even “Reykjavik”. And I am already getting worried about the countless other names of places and landmarks we’ll be visiting. Wish we had managed to schedule a few Icelandic speaking lessons in this phase! And I am surprised it didn’t cross any of our 19 fertile minds! Yes 19, you read that right! This is a first for most of us and goes without saying that we are excited with this diverse yet cohesive bunch- Shyanis, (4) Reshamwalas (4), Dalals (3), Kapadias from UK (4) besides us 4!

Packing for this trip was different- rugged, outdoor friendly, changing-weather compatible, hiking friendly clothes, shoes, and layers was the bulk of it. The essential Global Gujju staple-Methi theplas, sourced locally filled in the gaps.

We did alright with Kahan packed and ready with all his necessities 2 days prior, Parishi comfortably finished her packing by 7.50am for the 8am scheduled Uber and only forgot a couple of minor things. The rest of us were somewhere in between.

After being swamped at the practice with patient care and staff issues for the last several months, I am so looking forward to that soak in the Blue Lagoon right after landing at KEF!!
